Blue Field Insights research discussed in inspired TV debate De Toekomst is Grijs: looking for solutions to aging population

How concerned are we really about aging? Young and old, where do they stand on this? And which themes worry us most in our aging society?

We mapped all this for the Omroep MAX television program De Toekomst is Grijs. This series delves deep into the impact of aging on our country, spread over four documentary episodes. The finale? A fascinating debate, broadcast live on Feb. 29, where insights from our research were also discussed.

A tip of the hat:

  • More than half of the Dutch are worried about the future of healthcare. Especially the shortage of care personnel and increasing care costs are seen as the biggest problems due to the aging population.
  • There appears to be a gap between younger and older people: The older one is, the more one feels that older people are undervalued in society. On the contrary, the younger one is, the more one feels that young people are not sufficiently valued. Yet all age groups agree: young and old live too much alongside each other.
  • Although currently half of the Dutch help the elderly in their neighborhood, they do not think they should be held fully responsible for this. The majority of Dutch people think the government should do more to make informal care possible.
